Submissions to HBS Working Papers Collection

A working paper summarizes original research in a narrow segment of a field of study, and is intended for publication within a period of one to three years. The HBS Working Papers Collection consists of papers authored or co-authored by HBS faculty and HBS doctoral students. The HBS Working Papers Collection is housed at Baker Library on the HBS campus and is available for onsite consultation. Visit Baker Library's Working Papers Collection for additional information.

Requirements

HBS Doctoral students interested in submitting a working paper to the HBS collection must meet the following requirements:

  • The student has written a paper or article as a sole author, with another doctoral student, or with a non-HBS collaborator; and

  • The written work has been submitted to an academic journal.

Process

The process for submitting a paper or article to the HBS Working Papers Collection is as follows:

  1. The student fills out the Working Papers Request Form

  2. The application must be supported/approved by an HBS faculty advisor;

  3. The student submits the application and electronic files of the work in both MS Word and PDF to the Doctoral Programs Office;

  4. The Programs Office will work directly with HBS Case Services Center to process the submission; and

  5. Once processed, the Programs Office will provide a copy of the Working Papers cover sheet with a Working Paper number to the student author.
