HBS and Harvard University offers a wide range of research resources and campus services for students. Below are links to useful on-campus resources.
HBS Research Services
Provides HBS faculty and doctoral students with content, data management, and analysis expertise, with an emphasis on licensed, purchased and publicly available databases. Specialists include librarians, economists, and statisticians.

Boston Census Research Data Center (BRDC)
A partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Bureau of Economic Research offsite (NBER). HBS maintains a licensing agreement with the BRDC providing students and faculty access to unpublished micro-data for economic and demographic censuses and surveys. Additional information on the BRDC program can be found at the Center for Economic Studies (CES), a research unit of the Office of the Chief Economist at the Census Bureau.
Computer Lab for Experimental Research
CLER is a 36-seat computer lab with six small group rooms located on the HBS campus. This facility is designed to support experimental research, and is equipped with eye tracking stations, individual dividers, recording equipment, headsets, wall monitors and an overhead projectors. Behavioral Research Services administers the CLER lab and offers research design consultation, online survey development, scheduling, and recruiting services.
(RCS) is a centralized service dedicated to assisting with faculty research projects, providing research software to the HBS community, developing and supporting research computing infrastructure, and providing technology training. RCS staff also provide guidance to doctoral students and Research Associates supporting faculty research. As part of the Division of Research and Faculty Development, RCS works closely with the School’s other research support services to ensure seamless delivery of research computing and data-related services.
This new offering offered through Working Knowledge is a way for HBS faculty and doctoral students to find corporate participants who may wish to collaborate on a variety of field studies.
Harvard University Resources and Initiatives
Provides a broad overview of Harvard’s international activities and allows students and faculty to search for activities by geography, by activity type, by School, or by keyword. The site is maintained by Harvard University’s Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs. Students may explore approximately 200 centers, initiatives, institutes, and programs via this site.
The Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University
Seeks to explore and understand cyberspace; to study its development, dynamics, norms, and standards; and to assess the need or lack thereof for laws and sanctions.
The Center for Geographic Analysis
CGA strengthens university-wide geographic information systems (GIS) infrastructure and services. The Center provides a common platform for the integration of spatial data from diverse sources and knowledge from multiple disciplines; enables scholarly research that would use, improve or study geospatial analysis techniques; and improves the ability to teach GIS and spatial analysis at all levels across the university.
An open source application to publish, share, reference, extract and analyze research data. The Project facilitates making data available to others, and allows others to replicate work. Researchers and data authors, publishers and distributors, and affiliated institutions receive credit.
Harvard University Asia Center
Fosters links between programs concerned with Asia, including The Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Korea Institute, Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, and many more initiatives at Harvard.
Harvard MIT Data Center (HMDC)
Offers advanced computing facilities and infrastructure, including powerful research computing tools, cluster computing power, application and server hosting, and on-site computer labs. HMDS also offers statistical workshops/classes and desktop support. HMDC serves as the sole distributor of social science data for Harvard and MIT.
The Institute for Quantitative and Social Science at Harvard University
IQSS creates and makes widely accessible statistical and analytical tools for the social and health sciences; and uses these tools for the understanding and solving of major problems that affect society and the well-being of human populations.

Information Technology Service
Offers assistance with data backup and recovery, printing and network issues, and other computer support.
Offers audio/video support, equipment rental, video conferencing, among other services.
Oversees numerous support services including campus mail, facility maintenance, copying machine service and repair.
Ensures the safety of all community members and protect campus facilities. They also assist with lost and found, walking escort services, and lockouts.
The sports and recreation center at HBS. Programs and services include personal and group training, nutrition consultation, and squash and tennis lessons.
Transportation and Parking Services
Provides information on parking services, university campus shuttles, evening van services, etc.
University Health Services (UHS)
Offers general health care at its satellite clinic in Cumnock Hall. Services include primary care, internal medicine, mental health services, massage, physical therapy and nutrition counseling.
Harvard University Services
The Bureau of Study Counsel is a resource center for students' academic and personal development. Bureau services include: academic/personal counseling; workshops and discussion groups; and other services.
The voice of graduate students in academic, administrative and residential matters for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) at Harvard University.
Provides important information on visas, health insurance, taxes and housing, and other resources in the Cambridge/Boston area for international students.
